9-12-21 Message Title & Scripture Reference

This week's Message title: "Remembering Your Baptism, Where Does Your Heart Map Lead?"

Scripture Reference: Matthew 3:13-17 MSG

"Jesus then appeared, arriving at the Jordan River from Galilee. He wanted John to baptize him. John objected, “I’m the one who needs to be baptized, not you!”

15 But Jesus insisted. “Do it. God’s work, putting things right all these centuries, is coming together right now in this baptism.” So John did it.

16-17 The moment Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters, the skies opened up and he saw God’s Spirit—it looked like a dove—descending and landing on him. And along with the Spirit, a voice: “This is my Son, chosen and marked by my love, delight of my life."

Re-opening update

Friends of Spanaway United Methodist Church,

Following new guidelines from Bishop Elaine Stanovsky et all, we are open for In-Person Worship. You are invited to join us for worship at Spanaway UMC. We would love to have you join us, if you feel able and comfortable to do so. We will continue to live stream our services online via Facebook Live and will also post the recorded part of our services on our website: spanawayumc.com and at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXL5MziGozKZvMj3SSoFtbw.

If you attend in person, you will be asked to observe certain safety protocols, most of which you may be familiar with already. Please come prepared to sign in and maintain social distancing. Please enter the building shortly before the service starts and, for now, leave the building after the service. Feel free to visit with each other in the parking lot. We encourage you to come a little early, since the screening and seating process may take some time. We will open the building at 10 am and plan on starting the service at 10:20 am!

Update as of July 28, 2021: It was decided at Admin. Council meeting (Wednesday, July 28th) that due to the increase of COVID - 19 cases and the rapid spread of the Delta Variant, Spanaway UMC will follow the Washington State recommendations for masking. Masks are being required for all worshippers.

Singing is permitted for those fully vaccinated and we are requesting those that are not fully vaccinated please refrain from singing. We appreciate the love and compassion you show for one another.

Questions or concerns:  Please contact the Admin Council.

We will continue sending bulletins before the service. You may wish to print a copy for your own use and bring it to church, since we are trying to limit contact between persons due to the pandemic. The bulletin will also allow us to distribute a list of Joys and Concerns.  We hope to see you in person this Sunday!

Blessings! Pastor Samara Jenkins.
